Williamane

“The Williamane period” is the seven years during which William IV (1830 – 37) was king. He was George IV's brother. For all intents and purposes his reign was a continuation of the Georgian era. If he had simply had the good manners to change his real name to George, as the other "Georges" had done, the difficulty could have been avoided. As it is, we have to keep the extremely ugly term "Williamane" in reserve. In practice, the terms "Georgian" and even "Regency" are often extended to include William's forgettable reign. William was succeeded on the throne by Victoria.
